99 Red Balloons

What opinion does this song communicate about war?  Which specific lines support that opinion?

99 Balloons communicates that sometimes people fight war not specifically for the cause, but out of anger. The people fighting the war are not superheros, superheros are supposed to create peace, the soldiers create violence. They make themselves look like heroes because they are attacking the enemy and keeping their territory protected. On television, our soldiers look like heroes, who are willing to fight, however, once they face the difficulties and unexpected events of war they learn that fighting a battle is not as easy as seen.

This song, "99 Balloons" communicates that people sometimes assume that everything is dangerous at times and don't have the time to see if it is dangerous or not. A good line for this is in the third stanza,"This is it, boys, this is war/The President is on the line/As ninety-nine red balloons go by." The people in this song just assume that the 99 balloons are dangerous when they see these unfamiliar objects in the sky. They do not think it through and realize that it is not anything dangerous and take these "unfamiliar objects" as a threat and therefore, have to take action. If the people at the army base really looked in the sky and saw that it was only red balloons, they would not have had to take such lethal action.

99 Balloons communicates that war is fought for one specific reason- as a means of retalliation. Other than that, there is no other incentive. I think it's also saying that we rely so heavily on our technology, we don't evaluate problems thoroughly and think that whatever our machines detect, are our enemies.

99 Red balloons communicates that war is not only fought because of disagreements but also for, "bugs in the software" where the control center thinks the red balloons are airplanes coming towards them. The computer doesn't see the balloons for what they really are and see them as only an enemy because no one has ever seen so many red balloons before. The war machine is a nuclear warhead that is pointing towards the open sky getting ready to fire, like the other countries that were a part of the cold war.

The song 99 red ballons communicates that war is a terrible thing that can start from misunderstandings and lives can be lost because of it. Mistakes can start a war very easily "back at the base, bugs in the software flash the message, somethings out there floating in the summer sky". War can start because of terrible misunderstandings and lives get destroyed because of it

99 Balloons communicates that wars can be started over stupid reasons, and any little thing can set them off. The fact that red balloons set off a war shows us how far from perfect machines are. Also that people rely to much on machines and not enough on themselves. An inportant line in this song is " Back at base, bugs in the software/flash the message, something's out there/floating in the summer sky/ninty-nine red balloons go by." this shows us that you should never putall your trust in machines especially when your dealing with a war.

The song communicates that war is a horrible thing that can destroy places for no reason. The lines, "Back at the base, bugs in the software" and "Just to prove the world was here" communicate this idea. The first quote shows that the war was started because something was wrong with the radar and that the war really didn't have any reason to start; the second quote shows that the war completely destroyed the town.

99 Red Balloons communicates that when people break out into war, the whole world is focused on them. In the line, the war machine springs to life opens up one eager eye focusing it on the sky as ninety nine red balloons go by, shows that the red balloons have captured peoples attention just like a war would do. As the war ends, all theres left is dust, and after a while the balloons are gone away.

This song communicates that when people go to war, there usually isn't a good reason for it. The line "Back at the base, bugs in the software/flash the message, somethings out there" shows how the message that they are being attacked has gotten out all because of some red balloons in the sky. They are so eager to fight that they are going to war for something that is very insignificant.

99 balloons communicates that wars are not always fought for what is right, but for stomping-out what one perseives to be threats. It shows that wars are not always fought for a definitive reason, but for a country's own selfgratification. The "war macchine" used any insentive to go to war that it could find; 99 red balloons. Wars are not based on the premace of a country's own protection, rather it is based on the princible that they are right, and anything can be used to prove it.

The song 99 Red Balloons communicates that war can start from a small mistake or misunderstanding. The line in the beginning of the song "Back at base bugs in the software/ Flash the message, somethings out there." shows how a minuscule mistake can cause much mayhem in the word. This song also shows how eager people are to go to war. "The war machine" springing to life signifies the thought of war beginning. Another line in the song "This is what we've waited for/ this is it boys this is war" shows how everyone is excited about a war beginning. This is probably because the people had been manipulated by stories, Television and Movies how war is a very exciting and fun thing. "Everyone's a superhero" is showing that everyone believes that they can provide assistance in the war, and be a very important help. Those are my thoughts on the song 99 Red Balloons.

the song "99" balloons shows that war can be started for no reason. It could be a big waste of time. It also shows how people not only fight to win but from anger. The anger fuels then to fight hard for their country and get peace and to end violence.

The song "99 Red Balloons" tells us that sometimes war is not caused for the reason of revenge, but can start from a simple little mistake. The line "Back at base, bugs in the software/Flash the message, something's out there shows us that the war was triggered by something less serious than an actual weapon. Also, the song shows that people really don't know what it's like to be in war, because of the line "Everyone's a superhero/Everyone's a Captain Kirk." The line "the war machine springs to life/Opens up one eager eye" tells us that people use any excuse in order to go to war.

99 Red Balloons communicates that wars can start from a small unimportant reason and can result in people losing their lives over it. They start the war just because they think that the 99 balloons in the sky are a threat. They do not take the time to try and figure out what is going on instead they jump straight to a war. The song depicts war in a sarcastic way saying, everyones a superhero, everyones a Captain Kirk. What they mean by this is that once someone has the chance to grab a gun and go fight like they see on TV they do it thinking that they are "superheroes" when in reality they are far from it and are risking their lives for a stupid reason. The basic idea of the song is that war can be fought for bad reasons.

99 Red Balloons by Nena communicates a negative image of war. The fact that the whole commotion is started by a group of 99 red balloons is a good example. The writer thinks people are two willing to go to war. The fact the the "war machine" is brought to live over some balloons exemplafies this.

99 Red Balloons communicates that wars can start from stupid reasons. Some people set off 99 red balloons and the radars at a military base detect them as enemy aircraft. They are quick to jump to actions when the war machines are sprung to life. They don't take time to think and instead jump to conclusions about what is in the air. A good line that displays this is, "Ninety-nine red balloons/ Floating in the summer sky/ Panic bells, it's red alert/ There's something here from somewhere else". War can start from very unimportant events and then lead to a huge controversy. It seems that both sides are very anxious and waiting for the other people to make a move so that they can launch their missiles and win the war. From the carelessness of the decision to set off the missile, a whole city was destroyed along with the countless lives of the people who inhabited it.

99 red balloons illustrates that someone little can cause a society to fear and take extreme actions." Ninety-nine red balloons floating the the summer sky. Panic bells,it's red alert There's sometimes here from somewhere else." this shows that because the "balloons" were released into the sky people automatically took it as a threat and got ready to fight. the red balloons stands for nuclear weapons, and that since the people felt threatened by another places power they took action and got ready to fight. people expect the unexpected, and the littlest of things can be multiplied and turned into a time of fear.

99 Red Balloons communicates that war can be caused over over something so minor. if someone in a high ranking position gets irritated a war may be started. lines supporting this are " Ninety-nine red balloons floating the the summer sky. Panic bells,it's red alert There's sometimes here from somewhere else." Something seeming to be an attack has caused people to fear another country and end up going to war with them.

The song 99 red balloons describes to us that war can be caused through the smallest things or even if nothing happens at all. People see one thing and automatically they are offended by it which makes them become furious. When people become angry they try to get it out by finding someone to fight with which will usually cause a war.It also describes to us that people go to war because they think that they will be recognized as a hero when in reality people should go for their country no just for themselves.

The song 99 balloons communicates that wars can start over small things and many people can get killed over it. The war in the song was caused because there was red balloons in the air and bugs in the software. People overeacted to the balloons and started war. "Everyone's a superhero/Everyone's a Captain Kirk". Those lines are saying that evryone wants to be a superhero just like captain kirk. People watch tv and see heroes on it. They think they can be like them and go to to war and save the day. Then they go off and they most likely die.
